About the Farm |

Located
on 5 acres on the Enumclaw Plateau, Thunder Mountain Farm is nestled between dairy farms
and thoroughbred ranches. Overlooking the area is Mount Rainier, Thunder Mountain to the
early settlers of this area. Historically a dairy farming community, the plateau has
given way to a wide diversity of agricultural interests and "gentlemen farmers".
Thunder Mountain Farm began in 1999 as Enumclaw Herbs and Produce. Our goal was to provide
our customers with organically grown herbs and seasonal produce. Since then, the business
has evolved into a more diverse nursery, including many uncommon and under-utilized plants
worthy of more attention. Our intent is not to compete with the large chain stores but to
showcase plants you are not likely to find elsewhere. Our display gardens demonstrate the
ornamental value of herbs in addition to their other uses. |

Thunder
Mountain Farm has also expanded to include raising Alpacas for fiber and breeding stock.
The Alpaca industry in North America is attempting to reach a population of animals capable
of supporting a commercial industry in finished goods such as hats, gloves, sweaters, and
scarves. Native to South America, these animals provide the cloth that was once worn only
by the Inca royalty. Their fleece colors range from white to black and rose-gray to
mahogany. The gentle disposition of these animals lends itself to the overall nature of the
farm. We encourage you to visit and experience this unique nursery for yourself. |
